WoChem and IG Chemie will be screening the inspiring film "Hidden Figures" (2016), which tells the true story of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson – three brilliant African-American mathematicians whose work was crucial to NASA’s Mercury- and Apollo space missions. Despite their groundbreaking contributions, they faced systemic racism and sexism within the space program.
After the film, join us for a panel discussion with female scientists from the Faculty of Chemistry, who will share their personal experiences with intersectional discrimination – the overlapping impacts of racial and gender bias – in academia and science.
Come by, bring your questions, and join the conversation on equity in research!
