Honoring Excellence in Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry Research

At the XLI National Meeting of the Organic Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society (XLI CDCO) held in Rome from September 10-14th, Prof. Davide Bonifazi from the Institute of Organic Chemistry at the University of Vienna was bestowed with the esteemed Giorgio Modena Medal 2023.

The accolade was given to Prof. Bonifazi "In light of his interdisciplinary and innovative approach to research conducted at the interface between organic and supramolecular chemistry, aimed at demonstrating fundamental concepts and functions at the crossroad of materials and biochemistry. His studies, centered on understanding self-assembly/self-organization processes, have paved the way for the creation of new functional materials with tunable physical and structural attributes.”

The Giorgio Modena Medal, presented biennially, was instituted to commemorate the scientific vision and scholastic brilliance of Prof. Giorgio Modena.

Prof. Modena, a trailblazer in the realms of physical organic chemistry and asymmetric catalysis, was also the visionary behind a globally acclaimed research center dedicated to the exploration of reaction mechanisms.
