What are MSCA Doctoral Networks
MSCA DN’s aim is to improve the career perspectives of doctoral candidates (in both the academic and non-academic sectors), and to make research careers more attractive to young people.
A key objective of all DN proposals should be the training of next generation of doctoral candidates to face present-day and future challenges, encouraging them to use their knowledge and ideas creatively towards products and services for economic and social benefit.

Guidance & feedback
We are looking forward to supporting your applications! Please read carefully the FAQs document, as it contains key information for your application (please pay special attention to the budget details)
There is a salary gap between the Living Allowance covered by the MSCA DN and the Kollektivvertrag rates to employ PhDs. This funding gap will be covered first by using the project’s management costs (those not given to the coordinator), then any unused amounts of research and training costs. For the remaining gap (due to salary discrepancy only) the current overheads policy applies (see point 3.2).
Considering the amount of the estimated gap (currently €78,6k over 36 months), we kindly ask our PIs to try and keep the funding gap as low as possible when negotiating the % of management costs to give to the coordinator.
You can contact us for arranging a meeting/phone call to discuss options or any questions you might have and guide you through the application.
If you are a coordinator we can also check your proposal and provide you with detailed feedback in order to increase your chances of success. In this case, please let us know in advance.
