Transfer Science to Spin-off (Transfer.S2S) promotes the transfer of knowledge from research to industry and thus enables start-ups and innovations. Funding is provided to scientists who have ideas for future innovative applications based on their basic research, but who still lack fundamental knowledge or confirmation of hypotheses in order to decide whether the idea has sufficient market potential.
The new projects are evaluated according to the proven CDG model with the involvement of international reviewers. The program also includes accompanying business mentoring, in particular through the expertise of Austria Wirtschaftsservice GmbH (aws), as well as scientific mentoring by the CDG Scientific Board.
Transfer.S2S focuses on the development and evaluation of commercialization potential from basic research and thus closes a gap in the Austrian funding system. It also makes an important contribution to the goal formulated in the RTI Strategy 2030 of doubling the number of successful academic spin-offs.
