For this competition, brought into being as a response to the limitations imposed by the Corona crisis and accepting entries from April to May, Iakovos presented the chemistry of cyclobutenes, as well as their use in natural product syntheses and potential future applications.
Given the short available time of one minute, designing a well-rounded presentation that also included the perspecitves of his chemistry proved especially challenging – efforts that were recognised and awarded by a distinguished international jury of organic chemists.
