Laboratory fire 2021: "Nature Chemistry" tells our story

18.07.2023

Early one Saturday morning in 2021, the lithium-ion battery of one of our old laptops ignited and caused a fire. The insights from the lab fire are now published in Nature Chemistry.

Unfortunately for us, this laptop was stored in the lab. The laptop had been kept in order to run specialist analysis equipment but had not been used, or charged, for at least 2 years.
The resulting fire caused €1.4 million worth of damage, ruined projects, required a two year recovery, and resulted in countless hours lost.

We're very grateful to Nature Chemistry for allowing us to tell our story.
