Javier Mateos studied Chemistry, with a Master's in Organic Chemistry, at the University of Barcelona (Spain). He then moved to the University of Padova (Italy), where he completed his doctoral studies in 2022, followed by a postdoctoral stay at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung (Germany). In October 2024, Javier joined the Institute of Organic Chemistry in our Faculty as a tenure-track assistant professor.
His research interests focus on developing new applications for widely available chemicals and designing homogeneous catalysts with novel activation modes. The research group is committed to implementing experimental tools that rationalize reaction mechanisms, advancing the understanding of synthetic organic chemistry.
